For anyone craving a refreshing escape from the city, Wilbury Hill is a hidden gem that delivers a truly beautiful hiking experience—just an hour outside London! This hike combines the quiet tranquillity of nature with rewarding physical challenges and breathtaking scenery, making it a must-do for any outdoor enthusiast.

The trail to Wilbury Hill is a roughly 11-kilometer circular route, with a respectable 370 meters of elevation. Don’t be fooled by its proximity to the city; this hike is no walk in the park. It has a rugged, fell-walk feel that will test your stamina and remind you that adventure is just around the corner. The ascent is gradual, but the elevation adds up as you climb to the top of Wilbury Hill, the highest point in the area.
One of the best parts of our day was the incredible quiet along the trail. Unlike many popular routes, Wilbury Hill feels like a true escape from the crowds, offering plenty of solitude to soak in the natural surroundings. With the rustling of leaves underfoot and birdsong overhead, we felt completely immersed in nature.

As we reached the summit, we were greeted with stunning panoramic views, and—lucky for us—a breathtaking sunset that painted the landscape in hues of orange and pink. The vista at the top made the climb absolutely worth it. For anyone looking to take in the views, the sunset makes for an especially magical time to reach the peak.
Physically challenging and visually rewarding, Wilbury Hill offers an experience that’s both peaceful and invigorating. If you’re after a hike that combines quiet trails, a decent workout, and sweeping views, this one should be at the top of your list.

Would we recommend it? Absolutely! Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking to break away from the city, this trail is worth every step. So, grab your boots, pack your snacks, and let Wilbury Hill show you what it has to offer!
